About us

We started Arthur Wells because dressing for summer had somehow turned into a whole production. It really doesn't need to be.

What we're about

Arthur Wells makes light, warm-weather clothes. Linen shirts, swim shorts, easy dresses, trousers that don't crease the second you sit down. The sort of thing you pull on without thinking and somehow end up wearing for three days straight on holiday.

We keep the range small. It's easier to get a handful of things right than to chase a new drop every week, and we'd honestly rather you bought one shirt you actually love than five you forget about. The colours all sit in the same sandy, washed-out family on purpose, so whatever you buy from us goes with the rest of it.

Nothing loud

No logos across the chest, no trend pieces you'll wince at next year. Plain, well cut, easy to live in.

Built for heat

Light, breathable fabrics that make sense when it's hot out. The stuff that lets the air through instead of sticking to you.

Made to pack

Soft enough to roll into a bag, sturdy enough to survive the trip. Clothes for using, not saving for best.

About the fabrics

We lean on breathable, warm-weather fabrics, mostly linen blends and light cotton. Pure linen looks lovely but it creases if you so much as look at it, so a lot of our pieces mix it with cotton to keep the feel without the constant ironing. We tell you exactly what each piece is made of on its product page, because you should know what you're paying for. The short version: it should feel good against warm skin, and it should still look right after you've worn and washed it plenty.
